Scouts start the year with camping “resolutions”

Over the first weekend of 2024, our 1st Waldridge Fell Scouts had their first nights away experience staying at the Lookwide Scout Centre at Hexham.
Called their “Resolutions” camp, due to it being so close to the New Year, our Scouts went hiking, climbing, fire building. outdoor cooking, map reading and took part in many other games and activities.
On the Saturday, the Scouts explored Hexham in teams, and were challenged to get a photo of 11 landmarks identified on a Hexham map. In the evenings, after a traditional campfire with songs, some even took the opportunity to try their dancing skills facing the big screen!
On the Sunday, the Scouts went exploring again and hiked to the site of the first ever official Scout camp, run by Lord Baden-Powell at Humshaugh in 1908.
It was another exciting event for our Scouts to start the year with.
