Chester le Street Scouts info
Posted on 7th April 2024 by Tony Brewis
Hi All
Sorry it’s been a while since my last email but here are some bits and pieces you may find useful.
1st Burnmoor
Firstly, a massive well done to 1st Burnmoor who have secured a large amount of funding from the youth investment fund. This has been secured due the hard work and dedication of the volunteers at 1st Burnmoor. This will have massive benefits not only for Burnmoor Scouts but for Scouting across Chester le Street and further afield. With this investment Burnmoor`s HQ will transform into a great scouting experience for all. For more details follow the link. 1st Burnmoor.
Centurions at GGC
I was fortunate again to be able to attend the very well organised Geoffrey Gordon Cup (GGC) 24 teams of Explorer Scouts, from all over the county, took part in a 18km hike and incident challenge carrying all their equipment and remaining completely self-sufficient for the weekend. I`m delighted to say our Centurions did not disappoint scoring very highly and taking home yet another “Star Quality Award”.
St George`s Day Parade (Sunday 21st April)
With only a couple of weeks left before we all meet at Beamish, to parade and renew our promise its worth going over the basic plan. We will meet at 10am in the car park near to the front to the left of the main doors, ready to go in at 10:30. Then we will all proceed to the 1950s village and go to the welfare hall. We have access to the welfare hall until after the parade so we can store anything here and use this a base if anyone is lost, etc. (someone will be based here the whole time we are there). At 12:00 we will meet on the events field near the fairground, ready to march on at 12:30. We expect to be finished in the 1950s village at 1:15pm. Can I please ask that groups arrange their own handovers with parents and have a copy of any relevant medical information for young people in their care.
All Scout members will be admitted into Beamish Museum for free and parents/guardians can purchase a reduced price ticket for the event until the 14th April (next Sunday), as we need to give our numbers to Beamish by the 15th. Can groups please let parents know. Tickets available from : Chester le Street District items.
