Transforming Chester-le-Street – Team Leaders
Posted on 28th May 2024 by Tony Brewis
We’re looking for people who care deeply about Scouting in Chester-le-Street, and the outcomes young people achieve as a result. We need someone really inspiring – like yourself, to build teams to make the Volunteer Experience easier and better. You’ll be leading how we shape the way we help Adult Volunteers to support young people develop skills for life.
These roles are all about people and one of the incredible benefits of volunteering in any role in Scouts, but even more so as a Chester-le-Street Team Leader, is the teams of people you get to work with. You get to inspire, motivate, shape and develop your team, building friendships and establishing a sense of camaraderie focused around our mission for transforming the Volunteer Experience.
If you’re still reading, then you obviously have an interest in a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of our Adult Volunteers in our County through building, nurturing and leading a team to deliver our shared vision – so we would love to hear from you. And if not you, then maybe you know someone who be fantastic in one of these roles.
We welcome applications from all members of Scouting and beyond. Age and experience are no barrier, we will provide support, guidance and learning opportunities for the successful candidate. We are committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in everything we do.
We are now recruiting for the following Chester-le-Street (District) Team Leader positions:
- Team Leader – Programme Team
- Team Leader – Volunteer Development Team
- Team Leader – Support Team
- Team Leader – 14-24 Team
Each team can have at least one Team Leader. Team Leaders work with Team Members to share tasks out and make sure the team runs smoothly.
Team Leaders also:
- Create a positive team environment
- Agree how Team Description tasks are shared among Team Members by considering their skills, interests, and availability.
- Make sure the team puts young people at the heart of what they do, so they can create inspiring teams and brilliant programmes.
- Make sure the team is open and inclusive, and adapt team activities and tasks to be accessible to everyone.
- Make sure everyone in the team is safe and following safety and safeguarding procedures.
- Help volunteers find what they need
- Help Team Members find learning and networking opportunities.
- Encourage Team Members to share what’s happening in the team and find out where they might need support.
- Attract and welcome new volunteers
- Help recruit new volunteers (with the Leadership Team and Volunteering Development Team) so there’s always enough people in the team.
- Make sure new volunteers are warmly welcomed and complete their learning.
- Reflect and review
- Set up regular team self-reviews (at least once a year) to give everyone a chance to reflect on successes, and plan for the future.
- Carry out individual reviews with each Team Member.
The closing date for Team Leader expressions of interest is Sunday 30th June 2024. You can register your interest or nominate someone by clicking here.
